Garlic Sesame Tofu (Vegan and Gluten free!)

Ingredients


  • 1 block of firm tofu

  • 1 tablespoon corn starch

  • 4 tablespoons gluten free breadcrumbs

  • 1/3 cup gluten free soy sauce

  • 2 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

  • 4 tablespoons water

  • 4 cloves garlic


Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

  2. Drain liquid from tofu and pat dry with a towel

  3. Cut tofu into 1 inch cubes (or preferred size) and add to a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce in the bowl of tofu.

  4. Add cornstarch and toss. Toss tofu in breadcrumbs until evenly coated.

  5. Put the tofu on a baking tray and bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. Prep the sauce while tofu is baking.

  7. Mince garlic and saute with oil in a pan until lightly golden brown.

  8. Add in 1/3 cup soy sauce, maple syrup/ honey, 2 tablespoons water, sesame oil, and rice vinegar.

  9. In another bowl, whisk cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water and add to the pan.

  10. Put on low heat until the sauce bubbles and thickens (about 4 minutes).

  11. After the tofu is golden brown, toss with the sauce.

  12. Serve tofu with rice and broccoli or eat as is!
